Greek Folk Dance Program
Guidelines For
the Board of Directors
The Greek Folk Dance Program is a dance organization functioning under the auspices of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church of Tacoma. This dance organization is governed by a Board of Directors, (“The Dance Board”) structured under the following principles and having the following duties:
1. The Dance Board shall abide
by all the by-laws of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.
2. The Dance Board sets all
rules and policies for the Dance Program.
3. The Dance Board shall abide
by all St. Nicholas Dance Group by–laws including the Program’s “Goals and
Purposes” and “Practices and Performances”.
4. The Dance Board shall
consist of 3 to 9 members.
5. The term of each member of
the Dance Board shall be two (2) years.
6. Each member may be elected
to serve a maximum of two consecutive terms. A member who served the maximum of two consecutive terms, is ineligible
for re-election and must wait the period of at least one (1) year prior to
being nominated for re-election.
7. Board elections shall be
held in June with the Dance Board elect assuming duties on July 1st. The members of the Dance Board shall be
elected by both parents of registered dancers. A Total of two votes is allowed per family. Dancers over 18 years old may vote instead of
their parents.
8. Dance Board members shall be
persons inspired by the Program’s Goals and Purposes, willing to serve St.
Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, work for the betterment of the Dance Program
and join committees.
9. The Dance Board shall meet
regularly and additionally whenever deem necessary. Meeting dates to be assigned by the Dance
Board (i.e. the first Monday of each month).
10. The previous Dance Board
president should participate in all Dance Board meetings in the capacity of a
non-voting advisor.
11. Dance Board members who fail
to attend four consecutive regular Dance Board meetings are to be replaced for
the remaining season by a “temporary” new member voted in by the Dance Board
from a list of willing nominees.
12. The treasurer will maintain
the Program’s checking account and finances. The treasurer and president will have the ability to write checks.
