 Guidelines for Directors

1. The guidelines presented here apply to directors, assistant directors, and directors in training.

2. The direction, instruction and overall execution of the dance classes and its curriculum will be the duty of the directors and assistant directors.

3. Directors are encouraged to research all material presented to the class for authenticity.

4. Directors should provide a good example to the dancers.

5. Directors should be able to maintain control in the classroom without yelling, swearing, or hitting.

6. Directors should use behavior forms to document each dancer’s behavior. Behavior forms should be given to the parent coordinator who will in turn contact the Board and insert the form into the class binder.

7. Directors are required to attend all group performances and the FDF. If this is not possible then the director must find a substitute.

8. If the group decides to compete at the FDF, directors are required to decide on the competition suites and the costume and the music requirements as early a possible or by Nov. 15th. This will allow parents, the board, and others sufficient time to plan accordingly and support the group.

9. Each director must be assigned a title based on their assigned responsibilities. Directors are responsible for the group. Assistant directors are meant to assist the director and provide a substitute for the director in case of absence. Directors–in-training have limited responsibilities and help where they can.

10. Each Director can use $100 at his/her discretion for the purchase of dance research material.

11. Dance suites and music prepared for the class shall be the property of the “Dance Program”.
