Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church
Tacoma, Washington [Serving South Puget Sound since 1925]

Palm Sunday 2009

Our church and community offers an authentic Byzantine Christian experience. Although some of our members are of Greek ancestry, that is not a prerequisite nor an obstacle to attend or join our community. The Sunday services are performed as an alternating Greek and English dialogue of beautiful chants and songs between the priest and the parishioners. These services and hymns performed today have remained intact for well over a thousand years.

Our church and faith has a reputation for celebrating Christian events with wonderful elaborate services steeped in long tradition. Whether it’s Easter, Christmas, a wedding, a baptism, the traditions of the Greek Orthodox Church are simultaneously beautiful and spiritually uplifting.

Immediately following each Sundays’ service, we host a “coffee hour” (typically a light lunch), and is a wonderful meeting and social event. Our parish is friendly, and openly welcomes new faces.

During the school year, we offer Sunday school for children, Bible study for adults, and many spiritual and social events.

Our church survives financially solely on the contributions from parishioners. The concept of “stewardship” allows each individual or family to decide how much they can contribute.

If you’d like to experience our faith and community, anyone is welcome to attend our Sunday service; just walk in, and please don’t feel awkward. If you’d like more information about joining our parish, or have any questions, contact our church office at (253) 272-0466 or email us at mail@stnicholastacoma.org  Ask for an appointment with Fr. Serraphim or our church council president.
